The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Double Bass Teacher to join our Performing Arts team in a casual capacity, delivering instrumental teaching one day per week (Tuesdays) at our Donvale campus.

In this role, you will inspire students in their musical development, building strong technical foundations while fostering confidence, musicality and a genuine love of music.

Working collaboratively within a dynamic and high-performing team, you will contribute to Carey’s broader music program, supporting students in lessons, ensembles and performances, and helping to create a vibrant and engaging learning environment.

The Average Day:
  • Deliver engaging Double Bass lessons to students (individual and/or small group)
  • Support students to develop strong technical foundations, tone and musicality
  • Prepare students for performances, ensembles and assessments where applicable
  • Collaborate with the Performing Arts team to support the wider music program
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and families
The Person:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
  • Strong musicianship and expertise in Double Bass
  • A passion for engaging and inspiring young people in music education
  • The ability to build rapport with students, staff and families
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage teaching schedules effectively
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to a team environment
A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration or WWCC is a requirement of employment in this position.
